denial would have worked before the long vacant stare
I'm watching the commentary for House's Head on the new released House Season 4 DVD's, and they said they're going to explore Thirteen's sexuality! Yayy!! Olivia Wilde is so adorable (I love watching her in the interviews and behind the scenes). Anne Dudek (Amber) is so sweet and shy in real life, she's really quite an amazing actress (I might need to go find more things she's been in).

"And now for something completely different"
My dad's finally home :) yay. And he brings gifts of chocolate (Mars Bars, Cadbury Roses, Aero Mint- Britain makes the best chocolate!), a silver and sky blue shell Celtic earring and necklace set, lesbian magazines (DIVA whoo!), and a book on the history of lesbian bars (he's a Historian who writes about Pubs- he can't help it).

The thought of my dad in a lesbian bookstore in London, awkwardly asking about magazines and books for his gay daughter is both hilarious and really sweet. This from a man who three years ago said to my ex-psychiatrist, "she thinks she's a lesbian." That psychiatrist thought my sexuality was a phase and was in general, non-awesome, so you know... Anyway, I'm so proud of my dad now :).

Wow. That's awesome about your dad. :)

Though a shrink thinking that your sexuality is a phase is... well crazy. O_o

:). If I ever saw the shrink again, I'd have to suppress the desire to say, "Yep, I'm still gay. Are you still an ass?"

He totally dismissed my sexuality as important or relevant, and that's disturbing for a member of the medical community. The APA strongly suggests psychologists and psychiatrists to put aside their personal views on sexuality, as anything else could be detrimental to the patient, but it seems many do not follow this.

The very first time I came out to anyone was to a different psychologist. She tried to assure me that it could be just a crush, or I could be bisexual. It was a hell of a lot better than telling me it was a phase, but it still wasn't what I needed to hear. I wanted to explore everything thing I felt about my sexuality, and I wanted someone to tell me it was ok to be gay (I later got that with my gay high school counselor - such a sweet guy). I had waited six months to tell her, so I knew it was more crush, and that I liked girls and only girls.

I got the opportunity to talk at workshop for psychologist on LGBT issues, and it was wonderful to be able to tell what I had needed to hear coming out, and be able to help them with future LGBT patients.

OMG MINE HASNT ARRIVED YET!!! NOT FAIR!

Thats great about Thirteen's sexuality, she deserves some decent screentime! I cant wait to see the extras and the behind the scenes things...

And btw, youre dad sounds kinda awesome. I only hope mine will be as great about it, though I dont see him going into a lesbian bookstore anytime soon.

:D. I'm so excited for season 5 with more of the original cast and Thirteen's sexuality (which I'm really really hoping means 13/Cam moments). I hope your dad will be too :). Cate.

I NEED TO WATCH THE COMMENTARIES! lebntkbnt
What does Olivia say? :D

Your dad buying you lesbian books and magazines? Can he be my dad? haha
Cate: Olivia Wilde[info]babydykecate on August 25th, 2008 08:30 pm (UTC)
Hey :D. Here's the commentaries online if you can't wait- http://gutterflower-86.livejournal.com/9949.html
Apparently Traub and Kutner (well the actors who I can't remember) tease Olivia and play jokes on her, which is really cute.

No, you can't have my dad :p. I already have to share him with a 13 year old sister ;).

I LOVE YOU.

That is pretty darn cool of your dad. I can only hope that, one day, mine will be just as supportive (or half) if he finds out :)

*needs more Olivia Wilde now*

:) thanks. I hope your dad will be too :).

When does season 5 release in NZ? If it's too long from now, and you don't want to wait, here's the commentaries and such online- http://gutterflower-86.livejournal.com/9949.html

You mean season 4? I think it came out last week. But I'm too poor to afford DVDs, unfortunately, not after cleaning out my bank a/c with the headphones I got.

Thanks for the link! *more procrastinating ensues*

That is awesome of your Dad! The bar book sounds pretty interesting. I also have to agree about the chocolate. I spent a semester in London once upon a time and now I have to constantly special order chocolate because nothing here compares. Aero Mint is awesome and my absolute favorite is the Cadbury Twirl.

Do you guys not get normal chocolate in the US? Finally something the UK can do right! w00p! I do love chocolate mind you...if I ever go to America I will be sure to bring you all a good supply!
Mammothluv: greys: cristina scrunchy face[info]mammothluv on August 25th, 2008 03:59 pm (UTC)
Oh, UK chocolate is so much better! We have Cadbury here but it is owned by Hershey in the US and made differently so it's not nearly as good. You definitely win the chocolate competition!
Cate: tina fey 2[info]babydykecate on August 25th, 2008 08:39 pm (UTC)
:). I swear I gained 5 pounds when I was in London due to my addiction to their chocolate. The only chocolate I like that you can get in America is Lindt- but it's Swiss, not American. Choxie from Target isn't too bad, but it's pretty pricey (I get it whenever it goes on sale). Oddly enough, I love Cadbury Easter Eggs, because I think they taste more like the British Cadbury's. I start buying them the minute they hit stores, I have such a bad addiction lol. Still, of all the vices I could have, I'm glad mine is chocolate and other sweets (like Ginger Crunch, Pain au Chocolat, ect...).
